New Unnamed ‘Dragon Ball Z’ Film in Production Confirmed? Director Tadayoshi Yamamuro May Have Been Misinterpreted
Several speculations regarding a new 'Dragon Ball Z' film have been making rounds online after an interview featuring director Tadayoshi Yamamuro and producer Norihiro Hayashida has been posted online. Yamamuro allegedly confirmed production on the new film but the latest reports are seeking out the validity of his translated statements.
According to an article by Newswise, a new 'Dragon Ball Z' is currently in production and is part of a planned trilogy of films following previous releases of 'The Battle of the Gods' and 'The Resurrection of F'. The announcement was allegedly made by character designer, animator and filmmaker Tadayoshi Yamamuro as well as producer Norihiro Hayashida. It was reported that the two revealed the news through an interview in the twenty manga of Barcelona.
Another article by Geekphilia, the two previous films are part of the 'Dragon Ball Super' series and are currently being broadcast in Japan. The latest addition, a yet-unnamed 'Dragon Ball Z' film, was rumored to be released on 2016. Several media outlets and forums flocked to spread the news of the possible follow-up thus generating more anticipation from loyal fans worldwide.
However, an article from Kanzenshuu pointed out that Yamamuro's interview may have been fully misinterpreted and that there was no mention of a new film nor a trilogy anywhere during the Q&A session. The story first erupted through a Spanish anime and manga site called Ramen Para Dos. It featured a video of the panel comprising of Yamamyro and Hayashida accompanied by a rough translation.
The Spanish subtitles presented seemed to hint at the possibility of a new film - that it was already in production - but it could be a case of subtle mistranslation. Yamamuro allegedly said, "There are three films: Battle of Gods, Resurrection "F", and another in production. This trilogy will develop much more in Dragon Ball Super, explaining events from the series of films in more detail." Until the filmmaker comes out to explain himself in detail, no official announcements have been made regarding an actual 'Dragon Ball Z' film in the making.
Tadayoshi Yamamuro is the character designer and animator for the hit animated television series 'Dragon Ball Z'. He went on to direct the latest cinematic installment in the franchise 'Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F' released in April 2015 in Japan. The film followed the return of the villainous Frieza and received generally positive reviews from critics.
